ROSEDALE in 1820 was named after
Sheriff William Botsford Jarvis' Estate that he and his wife Mary settled on. The hillsides were covered with Wild Roses and thus the name. Mary would 'Trail Blaze' through her Rosedale Estate, which created many of the meandering and winding streets that are a Rosedale trademark.
In 1909 a bridge was built over the Park Drive Ravine (Rosedale Valley Road). St. Andrew's College and The Rosedale Golf Club were built prior to being developed into Rosedale Residential Real Estate.
South of the Tracks, West of Yonge Street, East of Bayview Avenue and North of Bloor Street, Rosedale Valley Ravine runs along Bloor Street and Rosedale Valley Road. Park Drive Ravine is just North of Craigleigh Gardens and Rosedale Park, which has 8 Tennis Courts, Sports Field, Artificial Ice Rink and Wading Pool, Chorley Park are just South of the Tracks, which borders on the Vale of Avoca Ravine and Moore Park Ravine.
