Bedford Park
Residential Real Estate was developed when it was linked to the Metropolitan Street Railway which began it's service in Bedford Park in 1890. That same year Bedford Park amalgamated with the former Town of North Toronto which was then annexed by the City of Toronto in 1912. Bedford Park is often referred to as North Toronto.
The Bedford Park Neighbourhood, which was most likely named after the Bedford Park Hotel which opened in 1873, began as a farming hamlet
centered around the crossroads of Yonge Street and Lawrence Avenue. This village was a popular stopover for farmers
traveling to and from the markets in the City of Toronto.
Bedford Park Real Estate Neighbourhood is now boarded by Bathurst to the West, Briar Hill to the South (with the new TREB maps as it used to South to Lawrence Avenue) to Proudfoot Avenue on the East up to (and
bordering Lawrence Park) Coldstream Avenue, Avenue Road on the East up to Roe Avenue, North again on Yonge Street and finally finishing on the North along the 401.
The Homes, Houses for Sale in Bedford Park Residential Real Estate were built between 1885 and 1940. There is a good mixture of Detached & Semi-Detached Homes and Luxury Houses and Condos For Sale.
A lot of the original homes have been topped up and/or rebuilt. Many have also been torn down and replaced with Custom Designed Luxury Houses.
Wanless Park is the largest park in the neighbourhood. It has 5 Tennis Courts, a Basketball Court, Baseball Diamond & a Playground with a Wading Pool. Wanless Park is close to the Bedford Park Community Centre which includes a Gym and an indoor pool. The Woburn parkette, west of Yonge Street, is a popular destination point for Neighbourhood Parents & Nannies with Toddlers and Preschoolers. It has a nice little Playground also with a Wading Pool.
Bedford Park’s gorgeous, quiet streets, towering trees and parks, is nestled
amongst some of the most prestigious Schools in the City of Toronto, Bedford Park is close to Lawrence/Yonge Subway and within walking distance many Upscale Shops & Restaurants along Yonge Street & Avenue Road.
