Allenby,
was settled as a Village by the Huron Tribe in the 1400's. Lyman B. Jackes actually wrote about this Tribe in "Tales of North Toronto" having its centre around a spring of pure water. That spring flowed where the modern Water Tower rears it's head on Roselawn Avenue west of Avenue Road and the Tribal Huts were where Allenby Public School is today.
Allenby Residential Real Estate Neighbourhood was developed when Allenby Public School opened in 1927, which was named after Lord Allenby. Allenby remains a sought after Toronto Real Estate Neighbourhood being popular with families with young children predominantly because of Allenby School's excellent reputation.
